Gastritis Is The Common Gastric Problem That Will Occur In Most Of The Patients. Gastritis Is An Inflammation, Irritation, Or Erosion Of The Lining Of The Stomach. It Can Be Acute Or Chronic.

Gastritis can be caused by irritation due to excessive alcohol use, chronic vomiting, stress, or the use of certain medications. It may be also caused by:

• Bacteria that live in the mucous lining of the stomach named Helicobacter pylori. This infection may leads to Ulcers and stomach cancers.
• A backflow of bile into the stomach from bile tract
• Infections caused by virus and bacteria

Gastritis left untreated leads to a severe loss of blood and in some cases stomach cancer.

Symptoms may vary from person to person. Some common symptoms of Gastritis are:

• Nausea or frequent stomach upset
• Abdominal pain
• Vomiting
• Burning feeling in the stomach
• Hiccups
• Blood Vomiting
• Black and tarry stools

After the initial review of personal and family medical history, doctor may suggest some investigations for the diagnosis:

In Endoscopy, a thin tube containing a tiny camera is inserted through your mouth into patient’s stomach to look at the stomach lining. The doctor will check for inflammation and if required performs biopsy, in which a tiny sample of tissue is removed and then sent to a laboratory for analysis.

The doctor may perform various blood tests for screening of H.pylori infection and anemia with blood samples.

This test checks for the presence of blood in your stool, a possible sign of gastritis.

• Taking antacids and other drugs
• Avoiding hot and spicy foods
• Gastritis caused by H.pylori infection doctors will prescribe several antibiotics and acid blocking drugs
• Gastritis caused by pernicious anemia B12 vitamin tablets will be given
• Eliminate the irritating foods from your diet.
